Freestyle Academy proudly presents
The inspiration for this project was a Jdrama known as “Kieta Hatsukoi.” I’ve never been one for watching Japanese live action content, or Jdramas - for reasons I speak of in this project, but this particular Jdrama was recommended to me by a fellow classmate in Freestyle. When I eventually watched this Jdrama with my younger sister, I was unable to stop hysterically laughing at how awful the acting and plot were - knowing full well that if it had been a manga or anime, I would have loved it. Later, when thinking about what to make my parody song about, I thought it would be a fun idea to use the Pokemon theme song - one of the most famous anime songs of all time - to make a rant about why I dislike Jdramas so much. I was right - it was a lot of fun.
For this project, I made my rant in the Freestyle Studio, and edited it with the music using the program Protools. Unfortunately, I had trouble with completely getting rid of the original vocals - so in this project, the chant of “Pokemon” from the original song is still clearly audible. However, I think it adds to the project a little bit - it’s a little embarrassing, but it’s part of the charm. For this project, I’m proud of myself for being able to complete it at all - I was very nervous for almost every aspect of it, and being able to see a finished result, even if it’s not the best thing ever made, is something I’m proud of.
